I started out in the catalog industry in the late 1990's.  This was one of the first industries to understand and transform their businesses online.  This industry was a great "first-mover" as these companies knew then how to motivate customers without necessarily having physical stores.  I spent the next few years here and then quickly went back-to-school.

I wanted to commit to formally studying this new thing called the Internet.  I chose to get my MBA at England's University of Durham and focused on Marketing & New Technologies.  Here, I extensively covered the emerging Internet and submitted my dissertation on How & Why People Shop Online, receiving a distinction.  The year was 2000.  This was when I truly became passionate about the idea around Ecommerce and businesses connecting with customers online.

Once out of school, being a California native, I moved to Los Angeles and immediately began working with Internet focused companies.  The range of businesses that I've had a hand in have been rich over the years.  My experience ranges from the complex workings of shopping search engines (Shopzilla) to transforming grocery stores online (Safeway) to integrating large multi-channel retailers (BootBarn/WetSeal) to helping develop brands' online presence (James Perse/Nasty Gal/Vince/Rebecca Taylor) to specializing in services focused on retail categories at the intersects of manufacturing and retail (vertical integration).  I absolutely love businesses of all types and categories.  Recently, I have been involved with clients ranging from highly branded footwear to teen apparel to indie designer labels to women's contemporary fashion to activewear to luxury handbags to jewelry to denim to premium underwear, scrubs, and many others.

Through my wide experience I have always led digital marketing, technology, e-comm operations, and strategy.  I have managed both small and large teams.  I have also worked with dozens of agencies and numerous 3rd party vendors.

Areas I have a deep hands-on experience with are: setting brand identity, overall business & digital strategy, digital and performance marketing, shaping the organization and team structure, online merchandising & planning, brand marketing, social media, marketing budgets, campaign management, web technologies, site launches and redesigns, user-experience, content planning, customer development, business plans, P&L, and even pitch decks.

I have worked with companies of all sizes; from new concepts seeking initial funding, start-ups with less than $1m in revenue to large scale businesses with $100m+ online.   Read my LinkedIn Profile.

Read my article "Why Your Brand is Doing Pricing All Wrong".  I wrote this article on LinkedIn during Q3 2016.  It shows not only my philosophy, but is a good example of my understanding of the digital space.  It comes complete with Star Wars reference.
